Details: According to the intelligence service, the resident of Bakhmut was recruited by a staff member of the 5th Service of the Russian FSB [responsible for counterintelligence in former territories of the Soviet Union – ed.]  after the beginning of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation. He received the "offer" for covert cooperation on his own phone via a messenger app.

It has been established that the Russian handler chose the operational pseudonym "Syvyi" (grizzled) for him and set him the task of collecting intelligence on the deployment of personnel and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the eastern front, the Security Service of Ukraine reports.

The man had the opportunity to collect the necessary information because he lived in an area where active hostilities are taking place, the prosecutor's office notes.

The enemy agent transmitted data through closed communication channels, carefully concealing his cooperation with the Russian special services. In his messages, he indicated electronic geolocations of targets and confirmed them with photo and video recording materials.

During the search, means of communication with evidence of communication with the Russian coordinator were found in the detainee's possession.

The agent was informed of the suspicion of treason committed under martial law. So far, the court has applied a preventive measure to him in the form of detention without determining the amount of bail.

For committing the specified crime, punishment is prescribed in the form of imprisonment for a term of 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
