Sedalia police shoot, kill man who allegedly had knife; 2 officers injured

SEDALIA, Mo. — Police shot and killed one person, and two officers were injured Saturday in Sedalia, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sedalia officers were dispatched to the area of 10th Street and State Fair Boulevard for a reported disturbance.

One shot and killed in Blue Springs, police say

When officers arrived, MSHP said they were confronted by a person with a knife. There was an altercation between the officers and the suspect, and police shot the man.

Two Sedalia officers suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both officers have been released from the hospital.

The man shot was pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been identified 28-year-old James H. Kreisel, of Sedalia.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation at the Sedalia Police Department’s request. The investigation is ongoing.
