See Captain Marvel star Brie Larson's intense training for the role

Oscar winner Brie Larson underwent a serious workout regime to get in shape for her starring role in Captain Marvel.
Next week, the actress debuts in her standalone MCU blockbuster, which sees her kicking ass and getting shit done as Carol Danvers in a world of aliens, allies and enemies.
However, you can't just stroll on to set and start moving like a superhero, it takes graft, and apparently, pushing a jeep with your back against it. Really.
Brie Larson's #CaptainMarvel training plan
1-3 months: Foundational training before “Avengers: Endgame”
3-6 months: Training continues during #Endgame, between Atlanta & LA
6-9 months: Focused “Marvel” training, including technical work for stunts & fights https://t.co/Xma4FI5j4T pic.twitter.com/xejSYU4eWm- LAT Entertainment (@latimesent) March 1, 2019
Via LA Times, check out the five-step routine Brie had to attack as part of her preparation.
Warning: this may induce phantom back-ache or pulled hamstrings (or, if you're like us, the feeling of sluggishness and the need for a lie down!).
Here are 5 moves that you can try from home to train like #CaptainMarvel, if you're up for the super challenge👊
1⃣ Hip thrusts
Beginner: Lie on the floor, knees up & lift your hips to the ceiling 15-25 times
Super: Larson worked her way up to weighted, 400-pound hip thrusts pic.twitter.com/diE8ephT6o- LAT Entertainment (@latimesent) March 1, 2019
2⃣ Push-ups
Beginner: Can't do one? Neither could Brie at first. With a pad beneath you, extend your arms & slowly lower your body. Once your chest touches the pad, drop your knees. Do the reverse.
Super: By the end, Brie could do push-ups w/ 50-pound, weighted chains on her back pic.twitter.com/7YZhlBu5Re- LAT Entertainment (@latimesent) March 1, 2019
3⃣ Bulgarian split squat
Beginner: Take a knee, with your left knee touching the ground and your right leg in a forward lunge. Raise yourself up & then lower yourself back down. Switch sides
Super: Brie eventually did these with 60-pound dumbbells in each hand or 120 pounds total pic.twitter.com/DN7kgMhPaN- LAT Entertainment (@latimesent) March 1, 2019
4⃣ Pull-up drills
Upper-body strength was critical for Larson's #CaptainMarvel stunts, like rope swings.
Beginner: With the help of a partner, jump to the top of the bar. Lower yourself with control & repeat.
Super: Brie couldn't do any before. Now look⬇️ https://t.co/Xma4FI5j4T pic.twitter.com/SDLeq1QvMj- LAT Entertainment (@latimesent) March 1, 2019
5⃣ Sled to car
The lines between actress & real-life #CaptainMarvel blurred when Brie pushed a 5,000lb Jeep
That moment started with a drill anyone can do from home. Stand with your arms extended against a wall & push into it as you run in place. Details: https://t.co/Xma4FI5j4T pic.twitter.com/U5o2Zby6bO- LAT Entertainment (@latimesent) March 1, 2019
So there you have it, all you have to do to get into Kree warrior-like shape is complete nine months' worth of hip thrusts, push-ups, Bulgarian split squats, pull-up drills and 'sled to cars'.
Yeah right, we'll probbaly give that one a miss, thanks.

Although the actress appears to have smashed the gym in preparation for the movie, it was actually one of her co-stars that gave her the biggest problem during filming.
We'll give you a clue as to which one this might've been; it's one of the comics' most beloved – and whiskered – characters.
Captain Marvel is released in cinemas on March 8.
