This floating tiny house in San Francisco marina was an ex-WWII landing craft: $730K

One of the more unique San Francisco Bay Area homes — an authentic World War II landing craft converted into an attractive tiny house floating on the water next to a dock in a marina — has hit the market for $730,000.

The tidy one-bedroom, one-bathroom residence, 4 Main Dock in Sausalito, California, is a “dreamy, charming boho home,” according to the property listing.

Sausalito sits in Marin County across from San Francisco’s Golden Gate strait.

Spanning a cozy 568 square feet, the upgraded home’s storybook exterior with a rich wood interior “oozes with charm,” the listing states.

The house is moored to a pier. The property’s attached outdoor deck provides great waterfront views.

“Dash off on your kayak and enjoy the day or sip wine on the magical deck. Original stained glass windows enhance the boho mood,” the listing suggests.

“The landing craft was used in World War ll to drop soldiers off onto the beach in Normandy,” listing agent Michele Affronte of Engel & Völkers Sausalito told The Sacramento Bee. “It was put on a concrete barge in the late ‘79s (or) early ‘80s” before being remodeled.

Now, the inside space allows for a kitchen, outfitted in vintage-style appliances, a living room and a bonus area in the back.

The property description says the place would make a good pied-à-terre, rental, home office or art studio.

The whimsical home’s price was dropped by $20,000 in July from the original listing earlier this year.
