See a gorgeous view of California from coastal marine layer to snowy Sierra mountains
The NOAA GOESWest satellite captured a beautiful Friday view of the Golden State, with abundant sunshine insland, snow-capped mountains in the Sierra and a thick marine layer along the coast.
The view comes as contrasting weather conditions are expected over the next couple of days throughout the Sacramento region. There will be a slight chance of rain, and temperatures will fluctuate rapidly in Northern California.
Near-record heat is expected Friday into Saturday with highs in the low 90s. Weather conditions begin to shift as wind picks up Sunday, dropping temperatures back to the 80s.
Higher-elevation snow is forecast to start Monday and rain may follow in the capital city as temperatures drop to the high 60s, according to the National Weather Service.
