See what Greater Cincinnati athletes did the best in state indoor track meet

High school track season begins in earnest at the end of March in Kentucky and Ohio.

Many local athletes participated in indoor track this winter, culminating in state championship meets that took place last weekend. The indoor state titles are sponsored by the coaches association in each state and not the high school athletic association governing body, but the medals and trophies earned by local athletes give them a boost as they head into outdoor season.

Here is a look at the top 10 local performers in each meet.

Ohio boys

Mannie Arbabi, Sycamore: He won the DI state title in the shot put with 58 feet, 3.75 inches.

Josh Basich, Harrison: He finished fourth in the DI shot put.

Josiah Love, Moeller: He finished third in the DI high jump at 6-6.

Jackson NiBlack, Sycamore: He finished fourth in the DI long jump.

Malachi Snow, Northwest: The reigning state champion in 110 hurdles finished second in the 60-meter hurdles in DI.

Koy Beasley, La Salle: He finished second in the DI 60 meters.

Elijah Doster, Lebanon: He finished third in the DI 60 meters.

Timiko Jackson, La Salle: He finished second in the DI 200 meters.

Jayden Wayne, Little Miami: He finished fourth in the DI triple jump.

Nico Arraje, Wyoming: He finished fourth in the DII 1,600.

Kentucky boys

Jackson Smith, Walton-Verona: He won the Class A state title in the 60-meter dash (7.23) and 200-meter dash (23.25). He finished fourth in the 200 in the 2022 outdoor state meet.

Grady Shay, Walton-Verona: The senior won the 1A state title in the 60-meter hurdles (8.67). He won the outdoor state title in the 110 hurdles and was third in the 300 hurdles.

Carson Milner, Walton-Verona: He finished fourth in 1A in the 800 and fifth in the 1,500. He was third in the outdoor state in the 1,600 last year.

Landon Bain, Bishop Brossart: The senior finished second in the 1A meet in the 400 and helped the Mustangs finish second in the 4-x-400 relay.

Dixon Ryan, St. Henry: He finished fourth in 1A in both the 1,500 and 3,000. He finished fourth in the 3,200 in the outdoor state meet.

Josh Brockman, St. Henry: The junior finished second in the 1A pole vault.

Al Bessler, St. Henry: The senior finished second in 1A in the high jump, and third in the long jump and triple jump. He was third in the outdoor state meet in the high jump.

James Cusick, Beechwood: The sophomore finished second in the 1A long jump and fourth in the triple jump.

Evan Smith, Ryle: The junior finished second in the Class 3A 800.

Kaden Gardner, Ryle: The senior finished fourth in the 3A high jump.

Ohio girls

Sophia Kapszukiewicz, Loveland: She finished seventh in the Division I shot put.

Andrea Burke, Mason: She finished third in the DI shot put.

D’Asyia Cotton, Northwest: She finished sixth in the DI high jump.

Lily Eagleston, Mason: She finished fifth in the DI 60 hurdles.

Jada Irwin, Princeton: She finished fifth in the DI 400.

Efa Paschka, Mason: She won the DI state title in the 1,600 and finished second in the 3,200.

Summer Swartwout, Colerain: She finished fifth in the DI 200 and sixth in the 60.

Nijah Robinson, Finneytown: She was the area’s top performer in DII, finishing fifth in the 60 meters.

Vivian Momper, Madeira: She finished second in the DII/III 200 meters and helped the Amazons win the state title in the 4-x-200 relay.

Samantha Erbach, Waynesville: The soccer and cross country standout finished fifth in the DII/III 800 and fifth in the 1,600.

Kentucky girls

Chloe Hein, Bishop Brossart: The senior won the 1A state championship in the long jump and helped win the 4-x-400, and was also third in the 60 and the 200. She is the reigning 1A state outdoor champ in the long jump.

Maddy Brauch, Beechwood: She finished fourth in 1A in the 60, fifth in the 200 and third in the 400.

Lily Parke, Beechwood: She won the 1A state title in the 1,500 and second in the 800, while helping the 4-x-800 relay finish second. She led the Tigers to the state cross country championship last fall.

Lexi Braun, Bishop Brossart: In 1A, she was fifth in the 400 and helped the 4-x-400 relay win the 1A state title. She is the reigning outdoor state champ in the 400.

Cassidy Cline, St. Henry: She won the 1A high jump and was third in the long jump. She was second in high jump in outdoor season.

Miranda Csordas, Bishop Brossart: She finished second in the 1A high jump and third in the triple jump.

Natalie Hall, Walton-Verona: She finished second in 1A in the 60-meter hurdles.

Haley Zell, Highlands: In 2A, she had four top-five finishes. She was second in triple jump, third in the 60, fourth in the 200 and fifth in the long jump. In the 2022 outdoor state meet, she was second in the triple jump and won four total medals.

Isabella Vonlehman, Conner: In 3A, she won the state title in the 200 and finished third in the 60. She had two top-five finishes in the 2022 outdoor state meet.

Veronica Orr, Dixie Heights: In 3A, she finished fifth in the 400 and helped the 4-x-400 relay finish fourth.
