See historic Knoxville homes on Parkridge neighborhood tour

Tickets are now available for the annual Parkridge Home Tour on Nov. 5, an annual event featuring historic Knoxville homes and local businesses.

Home, architecture and history enthusiasts can stroll through the present-day Parkridge neighborhood, which encompasses the early Edgewood subdivision containing many houses designed by George F. Barber, Knoxville’s famous Victorian house architect from the 19th to early 20th century. The homes span the eras from the 1890’s to the 1920s and are good examples of the ongoing revitalization of the neighborhood, according to a release.

Parking is available on Washington Avenue at the first tour stop, 1520 Washington Ave., where wristbands and programs will be distributed to ticket buyers. Tickets may be purchased in advance through Eventbrite for $15, or the day of the tour for $20 until 4 p.m. at 1520 Washington Ave. Children age 12 and younger do not need tickets/wristbands.

The tour will be noon-6 p.m. Nov. 5, and is self-guided. Participants can start anytime after noon and should allow around two hours. Walking is necessary and many houses have steps. Parkridge is a bikeable neighborhood and tour-attendees are welcome to ride bicycles. Driving might be necessary to some locations.
