Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney shared personal videos of their 3-year-old son Billy’s struggle with congenital heart defects, and they encouraged people to “vote with your heart” and save health care for those with preexisting conditions.

Billy Kimmel was born with several heart abnormalities that threatened his life, which Kimmel tearfully revealed in May 2017. Billy’s had three heart surgeries in three years.

Starting in that emotional monologue, Kimmel, 52, has said that Billy may not have lived if not for the Affordable Care Act’s protections for people with preexisting health conditions. Billy’s heart defect, tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia, is one of those conditions.

“Families go broke trying to keep their loved ones alive,” McNearney wrote in Thursday night’s video. “People die because they cannot afford live.”

Kimmel and McNearney called out President Trump and several Republican senators for attempting to get rid of the Affordable Care Act’s protections.

“Moms don’t forget,” McNearney wrote, as the video cut to several videos and photos of Billy and his 6-year-old sister Jane having a generally great time. “Vote with your heart.”
