A Maryland man who reportedly called police to say he was going to kill a cop is in custody after trying to run over officers, then driving his car into the Havre de Grace station.
Timothy Joel Jackson Kahl got the attention of law enforcement officers roughly 40 miles outside Baltimore Sunday when he phoned Havre de Grace cops shortly after 9:30 p.m. to express his intentions, the department wrote on Facebook. Officers preempted that plan by heading to the neighborhood where the 24-year-old lives and was said to have been spotted driving about in an erratic fashion.
But the adventure didn’t end with police finding Kahl.
“He struck several parked vehicles and tried to run over the officers before fleeing the area,” cops said. “Kahl then drove to the Havre de Grace Police Department where he struck another parked car. After colliding with this vehicle Kahl then intentionally drove his vehicle into the front doors of the police station into the lobby.”
According to police, after bursting into the station, Kahl exited his vehicle and attacked officers. He was Tased, arrested and taken to Harford Memorial Hospital. His condition is unclear.
No officers were injured, despite surveillance video showing what appears to be the suspect’s vehicle causing significant damage to the police station.
Cops said Monday that Kahl faces multiple charges, including two counts of attempted first degree murder.
