Broadway actor Jeremy Stolle comes home for a performance at the Gallo Center for the Arts, just one of the entertainment options in the Modesto region Jan. 21-28. Also among what’s planned is a new play from Prospect Theater Project and a tango production. Here’s a look at what’s on tap.
Jeremy Stolle
Modesto native and 12-year veteran of Broadway’s “The Phantom of the Opera” returns home to perform at the Gallo Center. Accompanied by his band The Unreachable Stars, Stolle performs “No More Talk of Darkness,” a storytelling-style concert about life, love and the perseverance it takes to succeed on Broadway.

Tango Argentina
Eight dancers and a quartet of musicians from Argentina make up Tango Argentina, a production that explores tango through unique choreography and improvised elements. Its performance at the Gallo Center is part of the company’s first United States tour.

Prospect Theater Project
Prospect Theater Project presents “Mother of the Maid,” the story of Joan of Arc’s mother, a hard-working, God-fearing peasant woman whose faith is upended as she deals with the journey of her daughter. The story highlights the conflicts that divide mothers and daughters, and also the bonds that unite them.

Family fun
The Carnegie Arts Center offers a pair of events for families this month. First up is an escape room, part of its Family Fridays series, where groups gather clues to unlock their way out. Then, a new Saturday Studio series features “Winter Wonderland-Scape,” where participants of any age can create their own winter landscapes. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
