She is a beautiful mix of high expectations, grandmotherly love, and unwavering support.

Rachel Grater, counselor, Gibbs Elementary − Mrs. Grater has a heart of gold and advocates for and supports our students every single minute of every day! She is always ready and willing to help students and staff members in any way she can.

Crystal Carter, Technology Resource teacher, Crenshaw Middle School − Crystal is constantly called on to assist with many things even outside of her technology responsibilities. She is always there when called upon and completes her tasks to the highest quality.

Celia Roth, math − Celia has been a welcome addition to Canton South Middle School after moving to the building this year from the high school. She is consistently working to make math relatable for students and brings a creative element to her high level of teaching!

Jessalyn Newell, intervention specialist − Jessalyn is patient, calm, has a positive attitude, and creates a safe space for all her students. She differentiates her lessons, meeting her students' needs so they are successful in the classroom.

Lake Center Christian

Coleen Bankert, second-grade team teacher − Colleen has been an invaluable part of our school community. She makes herself available to students and teachers and is always willing to share her expertise. Colleen continues to research and model best practices with students helping them to grow and succeed.

Emily Meraj, Secondary Art − Emily brings a world of experience to her art classes. She worked in Turkey for a number of years. The creativity she brings out in our students reflects her philosophy of each student bearing that image of God and thus having his/her own ability to create.

Noel Cramer, U.S. History, Government, Yearbook, Junior Service Adviser − In just two short years, Noel Cramer has established herself as an outstanding teacher who has also excelled as our yearbook advisor and the head of our Junior Service program. She is an educator whose positive outlook and steady demeanor have helped our students to exceed what they thought was possible while modeling a caring approach and a servant’s heart. Our school and community benefit greatly from someone who consistently pays it forward and teaches others to do the same.

Marc Pullen, STEAM − In his first year as Lake Elementary’s STEAM teacher, Mr. Pullen has brought a vision of innovation, collaboration, problem solving and authentic learning to life. Whether he is working with students to code and build robots to complete missions or teaching students to problem solve through engineering concepts, Mr. Pullen is always using innovative concepts to get students excited about learning new things.

Louisville City

Katie Baker, speech pathologist − I am writing to nominate Mrs. Katie Baker for Teacher of the Month. She is a dedicated and compassionate speech pathologist who has made a significant impact on the lives of our students. Mrs. Baker's wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of speech pathology keeps her up to date on the latest research and best practices, and she is always looking for new and innovative ways to help her students. She is patient and understanding, and she creates a positive and supportive learning environment for her students. Moreover, she is always willing to go the extra mile to help all students succeed. Mrs. Baker is a valuable asset to our school community. She is a dedicated and compassionate educator who is making a difference in the lives of our students. I highly recommend her for Teacher of the Month.

Marlington Local

Tierney Bratten, Life Skills, grades 6-8 − Ms. Bratten is a positive influence on her students, the middle school, and the district. Not only is she an excellent teacher, but Ms. Bratten always steps up to help wherever needed, including being part of our District Leadership Team.

Massillon City

Katie Boarman, Gorrell Elementary, speech and language pathologist − Katie has been a fantastic addition to our Massillon family this school year as a Speech and Language Pathologist serving students at Gorrell and Massillon Middle School. Katie has brought a wealth of knowledge from her experience at the college level to our district and has done an amazing job providing students with speech therapy services that allow them to feel more confident in their abilities. Katie is a great resource for her colleagues, always researching new strategies to try with her students, collaborating with others, and always wanting to improve her skill set. Katie is an incredible addition to the Massillon City Schools.

Luke Burt, Washington High School, World History and U.S. History teacher − We want to recognize Luke for this recognition because of his calm, kind, and compassionate manner with students. He always has a kind word to say and is eager to assist both students and staff if they are in need of anything. He is selfless and understands the true meaning of servant leadership. Students recognize him as an extremely competent teacher, always getting the most out of his instruction while adding value to what they already know. We are grateful to have Luke at Massillon Washington High School.

North Canton City

Amy Hanson, third-grade intervention specialist − Mrs. Hanson works great with our students who need extra academic support. Her background as a reading specialist has allowed her to diagnose academic issues. After finding those weaknesses, Mrs. Hanson scaffolds skills so that students can build both skill and confidence.

Lisa Ile, Grades 6 and 7 teacher − Mrs. Ile creates engaging lessons that extend the thinking of our highest learners. She has a special gift and talent for working with the unique needs of our gifted student population. Mrs. Ile has also been part of our leadership to initiate the National Junior Honor Society chapter at NCMS.

Osnaburg Local

Mrs. Traci Fondriest, third grade − East Canton Elementary would like to recognize Mrs. Traci Fondriest as our May Teacher of the Month! Mrs. Fondriest has a passion for teaching that overflows daily through the lessons, projects, and assessments she prepares for her students. She has a special talent for bringing the lessons to life and making them relevant for the students. Thank you, Mrs. Fondriest for the passion you bring to our 3rd grade team and the entire Elementary!

Perry Local

Julie Daugherty, fourth grade − Mrs. Daugherty loves teaching! She is always finding ways to connect with her students. Mrs. Daugherty is always willing to do whatever it takes to help her students achieve.

Plain Local

Kurt Kreiner, math − When you think of the perfect elementary classroom that students love to go to each day you think of Mr. Kreiner’s fourth grade classroom. His engagement with his students, humor, and caring attitude are contagious at Middlebranch Elementary. We are proud to nominate Mr. Kreiner for this award as a show of appreciation for the difference maker that he is for our children.

Sandy Valley

Emily Keane, high school science − Miss Emily Keane is always willing to lend a helping hand at SV! She teaches high school science, is the advisor for the Leo Club, and is one of the lead organizers on the SVHS PBIS team. She also site-manages athletics and is on the district leadership team. Her hard work is greatly appreciated at Sandy Valley!
