SEE IT: Paul's Fruit Market moving its Brownsboro Road store to a new location

The Brownsboro Road location of Paul's Fruit Market is moving to a bigger space that will let people enjoy the full Paul's Market experience and more.

The new location, at 4990 U.S. 42 in Northfield, is slated to open at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, just days after the current store, located at 4946 Brownsboro Road, closed on Sunday. The change has been a few years in the making until the company found the new East End space in 2022.

"So, we had just outgrown the existing location: not enough parking, not enough space for product," Ben Coomes, a third-generation owner of Paul's Fruit Market, said. "We built a business on convenience, and it was getting to be a little bit difficult for people to get in and out."

The new space is certainly bigger, with twice as much square footage — the previous store was 5,800 square feet and the new location is 11,500, Coomes said. The store will have more frozen items, since it has more freezer space, and the floral selection was expanded and will feature a florist who will be able to customize bouquets in the store.

Coomes said another improved feature is the addition of more tablet computers around the store for people to order from the deli. And in terms of food, the store will have a wider selection of ready-to-eat food including paninis, wraps and burritos.

But not everything will be different: The store is still maintaining its wide selection of local products and brands, including Weisenberger, Lotsa Pasta and Louisville Cream. The store will also maintain its current hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
