It’s the first day of school for Prince George! The 2-year-old son of Kate Middleton and Prince William and older brother of 8-month-old Princess Charlotte started his first day at Westacre Montessori School. And to mark the occasion, Kensington Palace released two adorable photos of the pint-size prince on Wednesday.

In the photos, George stands proudly in front of a mural painted on the outside of the Norfolk school building. He’s the spitting image of dad William, wears a blue jacket with plaid lining, and carries a light-blue backpack.

“It went well,” a palace source told People magazine on Wednesday about George’s first day at the school, which is only a short distance from the royal family’s country home, Anmer Hall. The school, located on a rural road, is housed in a converted chapel and serves about 30 students of different ages. It reportedly costs about $50 per day.

Royal sources also told People that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge “looked at a few schools, and they thought it was the best place for George. They felt in terms of education, the feeling, the teachers and the location — the whole thing made it the ideal fit for him.” George is set to attend the school a few days a week on a part-time basis.

Fingers crossed for more shots of the adorable prince at school pickup and drop-off!
