See what roads are closed for the 46th annual Statesman Cap10K race

The Statesman Cap10K is back for its 46th year. Thousands of runners will head to downtown Austin for the race, leading to road closures throughout the day Sunday.

The 6.2-mile race starts at 8 a.m. April 16 on the Congress Avenue Bridge and makes a rectangle around downtown Austin, ending at noon with a festival at Vic Mathias Shores. More than 15,000 runners participated in the 2022 Cap10K.

The race starts on the Congress Avenue bridge, then runs north before looping around the Capitol and onto 15th Street. Runners will continue west onto Enfield Road, cross over MoPac Expressway and then head south on Winsted Lane. The course then heads east, crossing MoPac again via Veterans Drive to Cesar Chavez. After that, runners will head south on South First Street, ending at Vic Mathias Shores.

Road closures on race day will begin at 3 a.m. near the start line, according to the Cap10K site. By 6 a.m. Sunday, the course will be closed to vehicles. Roads will reopen as early as 9 a.m. on a rolling schedule following the last participant. Plan ahead and be aware of the road closures in your area.
