See royal baby Prince Louis of Cambridge on his first birthday

While the world waits for the next royal baby to make an appearance, the most recent little royal, Prince Louis of Cambridge, turns 1 year old on Tuesday, and three rare pictures of him were released by his proud parents late Monday.

Prince William and Duchess Kate of Cambridge "are delighted" to share three new photos of their third child ahead of his first birthday, as has become a Cambridge tradition for their offspring.

Uncle Prince Harry and aunt Duchess Meghan of Sussex are due to welcome their first royal baby any day now, although they may not announce the news immediately and it will be a few days before they pose with the eighth great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II.

Kensington Palace said the photos of Louis were taken earlier this month by Duchess Kate, a keen photographer of her family, at their country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

In one of the pictures, Louis is wearing a denim-blue sweater with an adorable intarsia puppy design on the front. The "jumper," as the Brits call them, is by Thomas Brown and it's on sale, for $47 down from $59, on the Trotters children's clothing website.

These are the first public glimpses of Louis since December when he appeared in a family photo for the Cambridge Christmas card, also taken at Anmer Hall. Before that, he was seen in November when he appeared in another Wales family photo taken to mark the 70th birthday of his grandfather, Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales.

Louis made his public debut in his mother's arms a few hours after his birth at St. Mary's Hospital in London, and then was glimpsed at his July 2018 christening at the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace.

After the christening ceremony, more pictures were taken of mother and baby in the Morning Room and in the garden of his grandfather's London home, Clarence House.

Louis is fifth in line to the throne, behind Charles, his father Prince William, 36, his brother Prince George, 5, and sister Princess Charlotte, 3. The Cambridge children all will be cousins to the Sussex baby when he or she is born.

Louis is the seventh great-grandson of the queen, who turned 93 on Sunday and went to Easter services at St. George's Chapel at Windsor accompanied by many of her family, including Will and Kate and Harry, but not heavily pregnant Meghan, who is due to give birth in late April or early May.
