See when Santa Claus is coming to your town with NORAD tracker

Santa is gearing up to make his annual journey to homes around the world.

But when will Santa get to your house? The 2022 Official NORAD Santa Tracker is live, so you can figure out when he'll be in your town.

If the tracker doesn't load, it can be found online at www.noradsanta.org

When did NORAD start tracking Santa?

According to a news release, this will be the 67th year that NORAD has tracked Santa. The tradition dates back to 1955 when a misprinted Sears catalog told children to call a Top Secret phone line to speak with Santa.

Air Force Col. Harry Shoup had a direct phone line to the Pentagon from the Operation Center at Colorado Springs' Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) during the Cold War. When the bright red phone started ringing, Shoup found a child on the other end — the little one was asking for Santa.

Shoup put on his best Santa voice. Then, he gave the phone number to Sears and got a new phone number.

Now, each year, the NORAD Santa Tracker goes live to update people on the location of Santa. It's been tracking since Dec. 1.

You can track Santa through the online tracker above or on social media and their apps. You can also call Santa at +1 (877) HI-NORAD.
