The 2022 Iowa State Fair runs 11 days, from Thursday, Aug. 11, through Sunday, Aug. 21. Des Moines Register staffers put together this daily guide to help you enjoy your time at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

Here are our recommendations for Saturday, Aug. 20.

Help set a Guinness World Record

Four hundred and forty-five. That's the number of cornhole — or bags — players needed to break the Guinness World Record for largest cornhole tournament.

The Iowa State Fair hopes to break that record, set in 2019 when 444 players gathered to play the largest cornhole tournament in San Diego. State Fair organizers hope to topple that record Saturday.

Anyone interested in entering the record-breaking tournament can enter through the Scoreholio app through iOS and Android and follow the link for registration.

The tournament will take place on the Grand Concourse at the Fairgrounds starting at 10 a.m.

Get something on a stick to eat

The Iowa State Fair features more than 60 items on a stick, ranging from corn dogs made with beef, elk, rattlesnake, alligator, vegetables, chicken and more to fried desserts such as candy bars, Twinkies and Oreos. Grab something sweet like the chocolate-covered New York cheesecake at Dipped in Chocolate at the Livestock Pavilion or something savory like a breakfast sausage in a waffle on a stick at Waffle Chix in front of the DNR Building.
