See who has signed up for November elections in Northeast Louisiana, statewide

Candidates are signing up through Friday for the Nov. 8 elections in Northeast Louisiana and across the state.

What you need to know:

What's on the ballot?

Ballots in NELA include these races:

  • U.S. representative in the 4th (Union Parish) and 5th (the rest of northeast Louisiana) congressional districts, now represented by Republicans Mike Johnson of Benton and Julia Letlow of Start.

  • U.S. senator: Incumbents are Republicans John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy. The election is statewide.

  • State appeals court judges: Two 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal judges, Section 1C now held by Marcus L. Hunter and Section 2B, now held by D. Milton Moore, III

Ouachita Parish

  • Monroe City School Board: All seven seats are open.

  • Ouachita Parish School Board: All seven seats are open.

  • Sterlington mayor and police chief.

  • Sterlington Board of Aldermen: All five seats are open.

Caldwell Parish

  • School Board: All seven seats are open.

  • Town of Clarks: Mayor and five aldermen.

  • Mayor of Columbia.

  • Village of Grayson: Mayor, police chief, three council members.

East Carroll Parish

  • School board: All five seats are open.

  • Town of Lake Providence: Mayor, police chief, five aldermen.

Franklin Parish

  • Police Jury: District 6.

  • School Board: All seven seats open.

  • Justice of the Peace: Justice of the Peace District 8, Constable District 1.

  • Village of Baskin: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Village of Gilbert: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • City of Winnsboro: City judge, city marshal.

  • Town of Wisner: Mayor, police chief, five aldermen.

Jackson Parish

  • School Board: All seven seats open.

  • Village of East Hodge: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Town of Eros: One alderman.

  • Village of Hodge: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Town of Jonesboro: Mayor, police chief, five aldermen.

  • Village of North Hodge: Mayor, police chief, five aldermen.

  • Village of Quitman: Mayor, three aldermen.

Lincoln Parish

  • School Board: All 12 seats open.

  • Village of Choudrant: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Village of Downsville: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Town of Dubach: Mayor, police chief, five council members.

  • City of Grambling: Mayor, five council members.

  • City of Ruston: Mayor, five aldermen.

  • Village of Simsboro: three aldermen.

  • Town of Vienna: Councilman.

Madison Parish

  • School Board: All eight seats open.

  • Village of Mound: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Village of Richmond: Mayor, three aldermen.

Morehouse Parish

  • School Board: All seven seats open.

  • Village of Bonita: Mayor, three aldermen.

  • Village of Collinston: Mayor.

  • Village of Mer Rouge: Mayor, three aldermen.

Richland Parish

  • School Board: All nine seats open.

  • Justice of the Peace: Justice of the Peace Ward 2, Constable Ward 2.

  • Town of Delhi: Mayor, police chief, five aldermen.

  • Town of Mangham: Mayor, police chief, five aldermen.

Tensas Parish

  • School Board: All seven seats open.

  • Town of Newellton: Police chief.

  • Town of Waterproof: Mayor, three aldermen.

Union Parish

  • School Board: All nine seats open.

  • Police Jury: District 9.

  • Town of Bernice: Mayor, police chief, five aldermen.

  • Village of Downsville: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Village of Junction City: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Village of Lillie: Two aldermen.

  • Village of Marion: Mayor, police chief, five aldermen.

  • Village of Spearsville: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

West Carroll Parish

  • School Board: All seven seats open.

  • Justice of the Peace: Justice of the Peace District 3

  • Village of Epps: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Village of Kilbourne: Mayor, police chief, three aldermen.

  • Village of Pioneer: Mayor, three aldermen.

Who has signed up?

The Louisiana Secretary of State's Office keeps a running list. Check it here at geauxvote.com.

Who can vote?

Residents 18 or older who haven't done so already must register by Oct. 11 if they want to do so in person at their local registrar of voters' office. Find yours here. The deadline is Oct. 18 to register online at geauxvote.com.

When is early voting?

It's scheduled for Oct. 25 through Nov. 1, excluding Sunday, Oct. 30, at local registar's offices.

Ways to win

A candidate must receive over half the votes cast Nov. 8 to win outright. Otherwise, the top two finishers will compete in a runoff election Dec. 10.

Candidates can also win outright if nobody signs up this week to run against them.
