That was the case on ESPN's "College GameDay," where cameras zeroed in on a Vols fan chugging a bottle of mustard ahead of No.1 Tennessee's showdown at No. 3 Georgia in Athens.

The mustard bottle — any mustard bottle, apparently — has taken on a life of its own in UT lore.

Just this week, Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker signed a name, image, likeness deal with French's mustard, and it's commonly a punch line against fan bases rooting against the Vols.

It all started last season in Knoxville, where fans objected to a call that didn't go in the Vols' favor during a game against Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss. The result was a showering of trash onto the Neyland Stadium turf.

A mustard bottle was found among the mess, and months later, a mustard bottle was thrown on the field at Lindsey Nelson Stadium after the Vols' Drew Gilbert was ejected in a NCAA super regional game against Notre Dame.
