See Walton, Bay County power outage map as tornadoes, storms impact Florida

30A is closed because of damage sustained from an possible tornado that touched down between Allen Loop Drive and County Road 393 in Santa Rosa Beach.

Power outages were reported in the Florida Panhandle as a powerful squall line producing tornadoes moved across the area Tuesday.

An EF2 tornado touched down in the Dune Allen area early Tuesday morning, producing wind speeds of approximately 115 mph. The tornado traveled northeast across Walton County to the eastern side of Freeport before moving across Red Bay into Holmes County.

A tornado in the small beachfront community of Lower Grand Lagoon, southeast of Panama City, was also confirmed by the NWS.

The storms knocked out power to thousands of homes across Bay and Walton counties.

At 11 a.m., Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative's outage map showed 7,673 outages for Walton County and 3,316 in Bay County.
