Ben Kohagen's clutch touchdown helped the Fowler football team emerge with a victory over Pewamo-Westphalia in a showdown of ranked teams.

Mason and Morrice also maintained their perfect records with victories over ranked opponents.

All three programs improved their positioning in the latest Associated Press state high school football ranked teams.

Mason moved up two spots to No. 5 in Division 3 following its win over honorable mention ranked Haslett. Morrice knocked off 8-player Division 1 ranked Breckenridge last week and jumped up a spot to No. 3 in 8-player Division 2. Fowler was tied with Ubly for No. 3 in Division 8 last week and took over sole possession of that spot after its rivalry win over P-W.

Mason, Fowler and Morrice are among 13 Greater Lansing programs who are part of the latest state rankings entering Week 6 games. Charlotte, the only other unbeaten team in the area besides Mason, Fowler and Morrice, moved up a spot to No. 6 in Division 4.

CAAC Blue leader East Lansing dropped to No. 7 in Division 2 following its tight home loss to Grand Blanc. DeWitt joins Mason in the top 10 in Division 3 and is No. 9 after halting a two-game losing streak with a CAAC Blue win over Holt.

Portland leads a quartet of area teams featured in the Division 5 state rankings. The Raiders are No. 7, while Corunna is No. 9 and Williamston is No. 10. Olivet is receiving vote in Division 5 and just outside the top 10. In Division 6, Ithaca is No. 6 and P-W is No. 9.

Joining Morrice in the 8-player Division 2 rankings is Portland St. Patrick, which is receiving votes.
