Portland St. Patrick players on the bench celebrate during their game against Fowler, Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, in Fowler. St. Patrick won 58-51 in overtime.

The wins have kept coming for the Williamston boys and Portland St. Patrick girls basketball teams.

And that has helped the Hornets and Shamrocks inch closer toward perfect regular seasons and remain ranked No. 1 in the latest Associated Press state poll.

Williamston remained as the top-ranked boys team in Division 2, while Portland St. Patrick maintained its hold on the No. 1 spot in the Division 4 girls poll.

Willamston, which has wrapped up another CAAC Red championship, is one of eight boys teams that appear in the latest poll.

CAAC Blue frontrunners East Lansing and Okemos are receiving votes outside the top 10 in Division 1, while Ovid-Elsie and Olivet are garnering votes in Division 2. Other area teams receiving votes are Pewamo-Westphalia and Perry in Division 3 and Webberville in Division 4.

On the girls side, CMAC-leading Portland St. Patrick is one of five Greater Lansing teams that appear in the top 10 of their divisions. Defending state champion Fowler, which is two games behind St. Patrick in the CMAC, remained ranked No. 2 in Division 4.

A trio of area programs are part of the top 10 in Division 2 led by CAAC White leader and undefeated Lansing Catholic, which is ranked No. 4. Portland is No. 8 and unbeaten Ovid-Elsie is No. 10.

Also a part of the poll among the teams receiving votes are East Lansing, DeWitt and Holt in Division 1.
