Naples girls lacrosse player Avery Black has been voted the Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week presented by Babcock Ranch for April 25-30.

Black started in net, in place of starting goalie Ella Haney. She allowed just two goals across the final 41 minutes and 41 seconds against Holy Names, while forcing Saint Stephen's to go scoreless for a span of 26 minutes and 12 seconds to help the Golden Eagles advance to their first Final Four in program history.

Black finished with 8,411 votes (58.50%), while Seacrest Country Day baseball player Johannes Lopez took second with 3,736 votes (25.98%) of the 14,379 cast. Winners receive an Athlete of the Week T-shirt provided by BSN SPORTS.

The FINAL poll for the 2021-22 high school season will be posted Monday.

Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Collier County’s coaches during the week. Coaches can email scores to sports@naplesnews.com. The deadline for each night’s results is 10:30 p.m.

This week's nominees were:

Baseball

Johannes Lopez, Seacrest Country Day: Threw a complete-game shutout against CSN on Thursday, allowing just four hits while striking out 10 in a 10-0 win over the Seahawks.

Softball

Mackenzie Leiti, Naples: Went a combined 4-for-6 with a home run, two runs scored, and four RBI in a pair of wins over Bonita Springs and Gulf Coast.

Girls Lacrosse

Boys Track and Field

Connor Savenas, St. John Neumann: Helped the Celtics pick up a first-place finish in the discus, where he threw 39.25m, edging out First Baptist's Olsen Patt Henry (38.88m).

Girls Track and Field

Hannah Casey, First Baptist: Scored a win in the triple jump, jumping 10.72m at the Class 1A-District 12 meet at CSN on Thursday.

Boys Tennis

Davide Procacci, Gulf Coast: Beat Harrison Michalowski before the Sharks fell in the team semifinal match to Lake Nona. Finished as the runner-up in the team No. 1 singles draw.

Girls Tennis

Lily Dounchis, CSN: Won a state title in Class 1A, beating Saint Andrews' Santianna Chrysopoulo and then Palmer Trinity's Francesca Salvato.
