Have you seen them? Toms River Police need help identifying Home Depot thieves

TOMS RIVER - Police are asking for help identifying two suspects who stole nearly $3,000 in merchandise from Home Depot in Toms River, authorities said.

Just before 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to the Home Depot on Route 9 for a man shoplifting a large amount of wire, according to Toms River Police. The suspect used bolt cutters to cut the lock securing the wire behind cages and removed 27 rolls of 12-2 wire, worth a total of $2,916.

When an employee approached him, the suspect took a utility knife out of his pocket and threatened the employee, police said. He and an associate were then seen loading the wire into a white Chevy Impala and leaving the area.

The registered vehicle owner, who does not match the description of the suspects, claims to have sold the vehicle at a gas station in Delaware prior to the robbery, according to police.
