Selah's Center of Hope (SCoH), a Monroe maternity home, recently received a donation from the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod Life Ministry Matching Grant.

Several churches from the LCMS Monroe Circuit raised a combined total of nearly $35,000 towards this grant, with the LCMS matching $17,500. Churches raising funds were: East Ida Immanuel, St. John’s in Waltz, Trinity, Grace, Holy Ghost and the Pro-Life organization Lutherans for Life of Michigan.

“SCoH is grateful for the LCMS and the members of these churches,” Kara R. Dowler, CEO of Selah's Center of Hope, said. “These funds are vital to SCoH’s mission of providing holistic Christian care for their maternity home residents who have chosen life for their children.”

The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod support children and families and offer acts of mercy in their communities. To support local Pro-Life efforts, the LCMS has offered $1 million in matching grants. This program is specifically aimed at providing care for those facing beginning-of-life challenges. The theme for the Million Dollar Life Match is from 1 John 3: “Christ laid down His life for us. We love in deed and truth.”
