Stick with this live blog for up-to-the-minute information from around the college basketball world today. While the selection show for the men's tournament doesn't start until 5 p.m. (CT) on CBS, and the women's show starts shortly after the conclusion of that one on ESPN, there are going to be plenty of things happening throughout the day that could greatly impact how the field of both tournaments shapes up.

7:37 p.m. Iowa women get 2-seed, will host opening rounds

The Hawkeyes, who had a valid case to be a 1-seed, were given a 2-seed in this year's NCAA Tournament. They'll host Southeastern Louisiana (21-9) at Carver-Hawkeye on Friday.

7 p.m. Here we go

Women's bracket is about to be released on ESPN. Let's see where Iowa's teams land.

6:50 p.m. Women's tournament bracket reveal starts in about 10 minutes.

ESPN at 7 p.m. Find out where Iowa, ISU and Drake will play in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

6:45 p.m. Game times announced for men's tournament

  • Drake is slated to take on Miami (FL) on Friday with a scheduled tip at 6:25 p.m. CT. That game will air on TBS.

  • Iowa State will play its unknown opponent at 2:10 p.m. CT Friday on TruTV.

  • Iowa will take on Auburn at 5:50 p.m. CT on Friday. That game will air on TNT

6:35 p.m. Iowa State's opponent still unknown

As a 6-seed, the Cyclones were firmly in the field of 64 no matter what. But fans may be a bit frustrated to not know who their opening-round opponent will be yet.

They'll take on the winner of the 'First Four' game on Tuesday night between Pittsburgh (22-11) and Mississippi State (21-12.) On the downside, that's less time to dissect the potential matchup, with ISU's opening game coming Friday. But on the bright side, Iowa State will be far more rested than whoever their opponent is, having to play twice in four days.

6:25 p.m. A few notes on Auburn

The Tigers come into the first-round matchup with Iowa having lost nine of their last 13 overall games. But they boast the fifth-best 3-point defense in the nation. We all know how poorly Iowa shoots the deep ball outside of Carver-Hawkeye Arena, so that could be a deciding factor in the 8/9 matchup.

6 p.m. Men's field is set, now we wait for the women's selection show

The same three Iowa schools that made it into the men's tournament will make it on the women's side. But where will Drake, Iowa and Iowa State land?

We'll find out in about an hour when the women's selection show airs on ESPN.

5:39 p.m. Big 12 and Big Ten both have plenty of representation

The Big Ten leads all conferences with eight representatives selected for the NCAA Tournament, they're tied with the SEC in that regard. The Big 12 was close behind with seven teams picked.

That just shows how battle-tested both Iowa and Iowa State will be when they hit the court for their first-round matchups.

5:25 p.m. Final teams headed to Des Moines revealed

In addition to the four teams from the Midwest Region headed to Des Moines, there will be four more teams from the West Region coming to Iowa too. Those four teams are 1-seed Kansas, 16-seed Howard, 8-seed Arkansas and 9-seed Illinois.

  • Kansas vs Howard

  • Arkansas vs Illinois

Both games will be on Thursday.

5:20 p.m. First four teams headed to Des Moines unveiled

Four teams in the midwest region will take the court at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

Those teams are 2-seed Texas, 15-seed Colgate, 7-seed Texas A&M and 10-seed Penn State.

  • Texas vs Colgate

  • Texas A&M vs Penn State

Both games will be on Thursday.

5:18 p.m. Iowa State headed to Greensboro, North Carolina

The Cyclones get tabbed with a 6-seed and will face either Mississippi State or Pittsburgh on Friday, depending on who wins the First Four game between those two teams.

5:14 p.m. Drake heading to Albany, New York

The Bulldogs, champions of the MVC, will take on the Miami Hurricanes on Friday in Albany. Drake gets the 12-seed in the midwest region.

More:Drake men's basketball to face Miami in first round of NCAA Tournament in Albany

That sets up a potential Iowa vs Drake matchup in the Sweet 16 if both teams make it that far.

5:13 p.m. Iowa headed to Birmingham, Alabama

The Hawkeyes get the 8-seed and will take on the Auburn Tigers on Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama.

More:Selection Sunday: Iowa basketball draws 8-seed, matchup with Auburn in Midwest Regional

Tough draw for Iowa. If they come away with a win there, they have a likely matchup against the top-seed Houston Cougars.

5:00 p.m. Away we go

The men's selection show just started on CBS. We should know where the Hawkeyes, Cyclones and Bulldogs are headed shortly.

4:15 p.m. Final women's bracketology projections from ESPN

ESPN's Bracketology released a final updated bracket before the selection show tonight. Here's the seed, location and first-round opponent that they're projecting for Iowa's three teams slated to be playing in the NCAA Tournament.

  • Iowa: 1-seed, Seattle 4 Region. Opening game: vs 16-seed Tennessee Tech in Iowa City

  • Iowa State: 5-seed, Greenville 1 Region. Opening game: vs 12-seed Cleveland State in Chapel Hill, North Carolina

  • Drake: 13-seed, Seattle 4 Region. Opening game: vs 4-seed Texas in Austin, Texas

This would set up a potential Sweet 16 matchup between the Hawkeyes and Bulldogs if both teams make it that far.

3:45 p.m. Final men's bracketology projections from ESPN

ESPN's Bracketology expert Joe Lunardi released his final bracket before the selection show this evening. Here's the seed, location and first-round opponent that he's projecting for Iowa's three teams slated to be playing in the NCAA Tournament.

  • Iowa: 8-seed, West Region. Opening game: vs 9-seed West Virginia in Birmingham, Alabama.

  • Iowa State: 5-seed, West Region. Opening game: vs 12-seed Oral Roberts in Albany, New York.

  • Drake: 12-seed, East Region. Opening game: vs 5-seed TCU in Orlando, Florida.

If this is how the field shakes out, that means Iowa and Iowa State could potentially play each other in the Sweet 16.

3:00 p.m. Iowa State women's basketball claims first Big 12 Tournament title since 2001

The Cyclones ran away from top-seed Texas with a 61-51 victory in the Big 12 Tournament title game. Ashley Joens had yet another double-double, posting 28 points and 10 boards.

More:Iowa State women's basketball team earns first Big 12 Tournament title since 2001

It's the program's first tournament title since 01 and the third in school history. They were going to make the NCAA Tournament either way, but this should help their seeding.

2:54 p.m. Drake women's basketball is heading to the Big Dance

The Bulldogs ran away with an 89-71 win over Belmont to extend their season. They came into the MVC Tournament as the 4-seed and weren't expecting to get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. It's their first MVC Tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance since the 18/19 season.

More:Drake women's basketball cruises by Belmont to capture MVC Tournament title

But where will they end up playing? They're not listed on the most recent bracketology updates since very few people expected them to win the MVC title. Belmont was slated to be a 13-seed playing in Austin, according to ESPN. So Drake will probably take that spot up, or something similar.

2:45 p.m. Men's field seems pretty solid, per ESPN

ESPN's Bracketology expert Joe Lunardi released his final projection before the selection show and he said the outcome of the Big Ten title game won't impact changes in the seeding of teams. That means according to his projections, Iowa State will remain a 5-seed and Iowa will be an 8-seed.

Still, it's important to note those are just projections. The real field will be announced tonight at 5 p.m. on CBS.

2:15 p.m. Iowa State seeking first Big 12 Tournament title since 2001

The Cyclones are currently up on Texas, 37-33, halfway through the third quarter. Iowa State hasn't won the Big 12 Tournament title since 2001. They've only won the tournament twice in program history.

Lot of basketball still to be played for ISU, but this could be a big day for Bill Fennelly's team.

1:30 p.m. Things looking good for Drake WBB

The 4-seed Bulldogs have gotten hot and are up 24-12 over the 2-seed, Belmont in the second quarter. They're searching for their first NCAA Tournament bid since the 18/19 season.

Drake has only made the NCAA Tournament one other time after finishing fourth or worst in their league during the regular season. That was in the 06/07 season where Drake finished eighth in the regular season standings, but got hot and earned the auto bid by winning the conference tournament.

12:30 p.m. Drake and ISU women about to tip

The Iowa State and Drake women's basketball teams tip off for a chance at the Big 12 and MVC Tournament titles in about 30 minutes.

Iowa State is firmly in the NCAA Tournament field regardless of what happens, though a win should improve its seeding. Drake would need to pull off a win over 2-seed Belmont to get into the Big Dance.

11:15 Full slate of games on Sunday

Here's a full list of games going on today before the final NCAA Tournament field is set for both men and women.

Men's games

  • Princeton vs Yale- 11 a.m. (Ivy League Tournament championship)

  • Texas A&M vs Alabama-12 p.m. (SEC Tournament championship)

  • Dayton vs VCU-12 p.m. (A-10 Tournament championship)

  • Memphis vs Houston- 2:15 p.m. (AAC Tournament championship)

  • Penn State vs Purdue- 2:30 p.m. (Big Ten Tournament championship)

Women's games

  • Holy Cross vs Boston University- 11 a.m. (Patriot League Tournament championship)

  • Sacred Heart vs Farleigh Dickinson- 11 a.m. (Northeast Conference Tournament championship)

  • Iowa State vs Texas- 1 p.m. (Big 12 Tournament championship)

  • Monmouth vs Towson- 1 p.m. (CAA Tournament championship)

  • Drake vs Belmont-1 p.m. (MVC Tournament championship)

10:45 a.m. Conference title games starting soon

Across the basketball world, we got three conference tournament title games starting at 11 a.m. On the women's side, the Patriot League final between Holy Cross and Boston University as well as the Northeast Conference Tournament title game between Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson tip at 11.

It's doubtful either of those games impacts the destination of Iowa or Iowa State. But Sacred Heart went 17-13 on the year, so could be a fun game to watch for Cinderella purposes.

For the men, the Ivy League title game begins at 11 between Yale and Princeton. That's likely a one-bid league, so both are playing for their NCAA Tournament lives. Whoever wins will land somewhere as an 11-14 seed, likely. Probably won't have much impact on the destination of Iowa, ISU or Drake.

10:15 a.m. Who's coming to Des Moines?

We won't know that for sure until this evening, but college basketball prognosticators have been trying to figure it out for some time now.

Before Sunday's slate of games, ESPN is projecting that Kansas, Northern Kentucky, Arkansas, Illinois, Mizzou, Texas, UNC Asheville and Penn State will be headed to play at Wells Fargo Arena. With Penn State competing in Sunday's Big Ten title game, the result of that game could change things quite a bit.

As for CBS, they have Kansas, Auburn, Penn State, Vermont, NC State, Marquette, Northwestern and a TBD team depending on Sunday's games.

It seems like everybody agrees that there will be a heavy Big Ten and Big 12 presence in Des Moines, just maybe not the teams Iowans hoped to see. But that's all fluid and by the end of the night, we could see both Iowa and ISU in Des Moines.

Is it likely? No, not really. But it could happen.

9:30 a.m. Where we stand now

As of Sunday morning, ESPN's latest Bracketology predictions has the Iowa men headed off to Birmingham as an 8-seed in the West Regional. The Cyclones would get in as a 5-seed to the East Regional in Greensboro, North Carolina. ESPN currently has Drake seeded No. 12 in the West Regional and would play its first game in Orlando.

Still, it's important to note these are just projections and they've changed many times over just the last few days. At one point on Saturday, Iowa was slated to play in the Des Moines Regional and Iowa State and Drake would've been headed to the same location. There's still five conference title games today (SEC, Ivy League, A-10, AAC and Big Ten) that could shake things up quite a bit.

On the women's side, ESPN has Iowa set to host the opening two rounds at Carver-Hawkeye as the top seed in their region. Iowa State is holding as a 5-seed and would head to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Though if they win the Big 12 Tournament today at 1 p.m., that seeding would likely improve tremendously. Drake isn't currently in the projected field. But if they top Belmont, they're in. But where will they go? Well, they have Belmont, who was the projected MVC Tournament champion when this was last updated, as a 13-seed in Austin. That would likely be Drake's fate should they win today.
