Self-help portal helps DACA recipients save hundreds on application renewals

About 611,470 people are currently active DACA recipients, but with an application renewal every two years, those fees can be costly. That's why a Sacramento-based immigration attorney created his own site to help. The DACA application through U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) costs $495 – and that's without the attorney fees. Óscar Rivera has been protected through DACA for as long as the program has been active. He said that he's paying about $2,000 every time he renews, which has added up to about $10,000 thus far. He tells KCRA 3 that keeping up with the renewal process was tough, but necessary.
