A semi truck rolled into the backyard of a home after a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 2 and East 96th Avenue in Commerce City Monday morning.
- Several homeowners have a real mess to clean up tonight after this truck rolled into their backyards. That road just reopened. The crash was along Highway 2 near 96th Avenue in Commerce City. That's near the northwest corner of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. CBS 4s Justin Adams has more right now on what happened.
JUSTIN ADAMS: This wreck was part of a four car crash that happened near CBS 4 this morning. The semi truck traveling eastbound on East 96th Avenue collided with cars entering the intersection. The semi crossed over the median, and rolled into the backyard of several homes in the East Creek subdivision, knocking down their fences.
I spoke with Paige Collins, who is a homeowner who told me about the loud crash that woke her up and literally landed in her backyard.
PAIGE COLLINS: I woke up and I looked out the window and there's a giant truck in the backyard. The whole barrier wall in the back of the yard was knocked down, and all the rock that was in the bed of this truck is dumped into our neighbor's yard, knocked our fence over. So we have a bunch of rock in our yard as well. It's just unbelievable that this happened. It's just something you would never expect to happen in your backyard.
JUSTIN ADAMS: I also spoke with Paige's boyfriend on the phone, and he was injured in the same intersection last year in a car accident. He contacted the Office of the Mayor of Commerce City, and he requested for a red light camera, and also for the speed limits to lower. In Commerce City, Justin Adams, cover covering Colorado first.
