Logging truck collides with train on Felumlee Road in Licking County's Hanover Township

HANOVER TOWNSHIP − An Ohio Central Railroad train hit a logging truck trying to cross railroad tracks Tuesday on Felumlee Road, north of Marne Road.

Sgt. Drew Untied, of the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Granville Post, said the truck driver, Zachary Straits, 30, of Shreve, Ohio, failed to yield at a stop sign at the railroad tracks while traveling northbound on Felumlee Road.

The eastbound train, traveling at 30 miles per hour, hit the middle of the truck, pushing the vehicle 100 feet east down the tracks, before the truck rolled off the north side of the tracks. The train remained on the tracks.

Untied said Straits went to a hospital with minor injuries — a sore back, leg and neck. The collision happen at 11:42 a.m. There are no gates at the crossing, Untied said.

The train's conductor, Andrew Novak, 55, of Coshocton, and another man on the train, were not injured.
