Seminole County may buy some property in the Sylvan Lake area for a future sports project — an effort that would boost the county’s competitive ability to draw more visitors, jobs and economic impact to the region.

The county, during a meeting on May 9, identified a 40-acre parcel of land on which it could expand the county’s 126-acre multi-sports complex to the north of the property. The land currently is owned by PSM LLC, the owner and operator of an equestrian training, boarding and storage facility called WB Equestrian, which is on the property.

No specifics on potential price, hint of an impending sale or potential economic impact were shared. The property last traded hands for $4 million in 2005, and the county’s appraiser site currently has a “just/market value” of the land at more than $4.8 million — but states that is not an anticipated selling price.
