MADISON, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – A group of Democratic U.S. Senators, including Wisconsin’s Tammy Baldwin, spoke out today (2/27/24) about a recent Alabama ruling on reproductive health. Baldwin speaking about the need to protect In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) nationwide. Last week, Alabama’s State Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos created during the IVF process are children under state law. Baldwin says this ruling stem from last year’s overturning of Roe V. Wade and is being used across the nation to take away women’s reproductive rights, “Millions of women have been stripped of their rights and have become second class citizens. In my home state of Wisconsin, I heard stories of women bleeding out from incomplete miscarriages and state lines for basic care.”

Last month, Baldwin and other Senators introduced the Access to Family Building Act, which would protect the right to access IVF and other assisted reproductive technology nationwide.
