Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) attacked Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for taking paternity leave.

Buttigieg and his husband Chasten welcomed twins Joseph August and Penelope Rose in August last year.

Cruz claimed that Buttigieg took paternity leave in the middle of the greatest supply chain crisis ever seen.

He alleged that “Two years ago most people didn't know much about our supply chain, didn't ever really focus on the fact that we had a supply chain until Biden and the Socialist came in and screwed it up.”

Cruz said that working men and women were impacted the most during the crisis and that the problem could be fixed by cutting taxes and regulations. He went on to praise the Trump administration for having the lowest unemployment rates in the last 50 years.

The immediate cause of the supply chain crisis that began just after the pandemic hit was the sharp increase in the spending ability of the consumers. People couldn’t venture out much due to COVID-19 restrictions and wanted to buy more goods for home and personal use. This led to more demand but operations slowed at all stages due to the pandemic.
