North Carolina Representative and Senator-elect Tim Moffitt of Henderson County was recently named the 2022 recipient of the Legislative Leadership Award from the North Carolina Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association.

According to a news release, as chairman of the N.C. House Alcoholic Beverage Control Committee, Rep. Moffitt has taken a lead role in finding innovative and responsible ways to modernize the state’s alcohol delivery system.

“I have enjoyed working with the good folks at the NC Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association over the last two years. They play an important role in North Carolina’s economy not only by employing over 5,000 people in local jobs across the state, but by providing the vital link in the supply chain between the production of beer and wine and its ultimate destination to the consumer," Moffitt said. "It has been a pleasure to work with them and I am honored by this year's Legislative Leadership Award.”

Rep. Moffitt was elected in November to the N.C. Senate seat being vacated by newly-elected U.S. Congressman Chuck Edwards. In January, Moffitt will be formally become a member of the 50-person N.C. Senate.

“We greatly appreciate the transparent manner in which Rep. Moffitt has worked with industry stakeholders to reach consensus positions on how best to make reasonable and thoughtful changes,” said Tim Kent, executive director of the N.C. Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association.

Founded in 1936, the North Carolina Beer and Wine Wholesalers is comprised of distribution companies with 6,000 employees who are involved in delivering beer and wine products to 20,000 retailers across the state. The Association works closely with elected officials and regulators to develop alcohol policy which promotes fairness in a highly-competitive marketplace while promoting responsible consumption.
