He spoke with intelligence leaders and highlighted the base’s economic impact.

It is estimated the base creates more than $4 billion in annual economic impact.

Vance told News Center 7 this visit was a sobering experience and says the United States is starting to fall behind on technology compared to China.

“Luckily, we have some good war fighters here making sure that we’re staying ahead of the curve,” he said. “But, it’s up to people like me to make sure they have the tools they need to ensure if America, God forbid, does get into a military conflict over the next five or 10 years, we’re doing it with the weapons that can actually win.”

Wright Patterson Air Force Base has more than 30,000 Ohioans and is the biggest single site employer in Ohio.

Vance called Wright Patterson Air Force Base is an important asset to the Dayton region.
