Senior athletes sign across Brevard on National Signing Day

Holy Trinity held the earliest National Signing Day ceremony Wednesday, recognizing two senior athletes during a gathering at the school's auditorium.

Wednesday was the first day of the winter signing period, and Holy Trinity was just one of several Brevard County high schools celebrating the signing of senior athletes with college sports programs.

Two Tigers signed. Jake Pagliarini picked University of Mount Olive lacrosse of North Carolina. Soccer player Averie Schweitzer signed with the University of Tampa.

At Merritt Island Christian, Morgan Babb signed to attend Graceland University of Lamoni, Iowa. Babb will play football after a career in 8-man football with the Cougars, playing multiple positions.

It was a big day of signings for the Eau Gallie football team with seven players signing to play collegiate football. Dashad Shaw signed with Lane College. Dillon Cooper, Tyler Sheehan and Rejonn Blackmon all signed with Graceland University. Curlie Spencer and Alvarez Baker will join the University of Rhode Island football program after signing letters of intent. Rico Johnson selected Livingstone College of Salisbury, N.C., as the place to continue his athletic and academic career.

In an after-school session at Bayside, three signed from three teams. Volleyball player Amanda Jimenez signed with Warner University of Lake Wales. Trevion Butler of Bears football signed with Southeastern Oklahoma. Brooke Mahaney picked Nova Southeastern for softball.

At the same time on the other end of the county, two Titusville High softball players signed to play at the next level. Daniella Monaco signed with Mercer University, and Hannah Worthington signed with Chipola College of Marianna.

Cocoa held a recognition ceremony after school as well for several members of its Class 2S state championship football team. Alex Ramirez will head to McPherson (Kan.) College and Caleb Dobbs to Eastern Michigan. Blake Boda signed with Coastal Carolina and Jordan Holmes with Old Dominion. D'Andrevius Dorsey signed to play for Presbyterian College of Clinton, S.C.

Four Melbourne football players were honored at an evening ceremony. Frank Santiago signed with Presbyterian and Wesley Lambert with Southwest Baptist University of Missouri. Jalen Clarke will go to Tyler (Texas) Junior College, and Kody Black will be a preferred walk-on at USF.

Palm Bay got an early start to the celebrations. Defensive end Daniel Harris, a member of the 321preps Dandy Dozen of 2022, was recognized for signing with UAB.
