Senior-level hires and promotions in Miami-Dade and Broward for the week of Sept. 28, 2020

HEALTHCARE

At Broward Health:

Laura Thomas has been named chief financial officer at Broward Health Medical Center. She is tasked with providing strategic leadership and oversight of the fiscal operations at the medical center and at Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital. Thomas most recently was the senior vice president of finance for John Peter Smith Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas. Before that, she was Market CFO for Bon Secours Mercy Health — East Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. Thomas has a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Texas and a master’s in health administration from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

Joshua Szostek has been named chief financial officer for Broward Health North. He is tasked with providing strategic leadership and lead the implementation and execution of financial operations for the facility. Szostek has held senior-level financial positions at a variety of hospitals in the HCA network, including most recently, chief financial officer of HCA Houston Healthcare in Houston, Texas. Szostek has an MBA from DeVry.

Maria Jayoussi has joined Nicklaus Children’s Health System as vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer for the health system’s physician enterprise, Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists. Most recently, she was the executive director of finance for WakeMed Physicians Practices in Raleigh, North Carolina.

HOSPITALITY

Danny Williams has been appointed managing director of Trump International Resort Miami. The property is in Sunny Isles Beach. Most recently, Williams was consultant for Island Hospitality Advisors in Orlando. Before that, he was regional vice president of Resort Operations at Bluegreen Vacations. Williams has a bachelor’s in hotel and restaurant administration from Florida State University.

LAW

Zalman Kass has been promoted to partner from associate at Rivero Mestre. Kass is a commercial litigator, with a focus on the financial industry and cryptocurrency. He has an undergraduate degree from Yeshivas Lubavitch and a J.D. from Boston University.

REAL ESTATE

Paul Marko has been appointed principle at Avison Young, based in Fort Lauderdale. He will focus on serving and advising office occupiers in South Florida. The commercial real estate services firm is based in Toronto. Marko was president overseeing the leasing and sales division of Stiles Realty. He is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University.

Name: Dr. Conor Delaney

New position: CEO and president for Cleveland Clinic Florida. He takes on the new job Oct. 15. He will be based at the clinic’s Weston campus.

From: Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He is chairman of Cleveland Clinic’s Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute.

About. Dr. Delaney will oversee all Florida operations, which includes five hospitals, a research center, and numerous outpatient centers in five counties across Southeast Florida.

And: A colorectal surgeon and professor of surgery with more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, Delaney first joined Cleveland Clinic in 1999 as a fellow. He began his career at Cleveland Clinic in 2000 on the clinical associate staff.

Education: Delaney has a medical degree from University College Dublin Medical School. In 1992, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and earned his master’s degree in surgery in 1994. His doctorate degree is from the University of Pittsburgh. He holds the Victor W. Fazio, M.D., Endowed Chair in Colorectal Surgery.
