Sentence In Sexual Assault Of 6-Year-Old

YONKERS, NY — A Yonkers man was sentenced to prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old child over a period of two years. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Isaiah Rodriquez, 23, of Yonkers, was sentenced Tuesday to 8.5 years in state prison with 15 years post-release supervision.

He pleaded guilty in January to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a felony.

Authorities said Rodriguez subjected the child to repeated acts of sexual assault on multiple occasions from Oct. 24, 2016, to Dec. 31, 2018, when the child was between 4 and 6 years old.

The child told her mother of the abuse, and the mother took the child to the hospital. Afterward, with Yonkers police officers, the child was taken to the Westchester Child Advocacy Center in Valhalla where a specially trained staff member forensically interviewed her.

After an investigation by Yonkers police, Rodriguez was arrested. He pleaded guilty Jan. 29.

Officials said the sentencing had been postponed several times due to a change in court protocols because of the new coronavirus.
