Sequoyah football earns 2A-8 honors

Jan. 11—Sequoyah football's 2022 season was a decade in the making.

The Eagles reached the state quarterfinals for the first time since 2012, and their 11 wins was the best outing for the program since finishing 14-0 in 2006 with a state championship. Furthermore, Sequoyah hosted a playoff game for the first time since 2016 after finishing second in District 2A-8.

That success was rewarded handsomely in the postseason All-District awards.

Five players earned player of the year honors at their respective positions, and another two were named to the first team all-district list.
