Serbia handed over the remains of seven ethnic Albanian victims of the 1998-99 war to Kosovo at the Merdare border crossing on September 30.

Footage by the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty shows relatives of the victims and the public greeting the caskets in tears.

The remains of the seven civilians, killed in the massacre in the Kosovo village of Rezalla in April 1999, were found in the Kizevak mine in November 2020, according to a report from Balkan Insight.

“Our words must be repeated and said aloud. To be heard more than those who deny genocide,” said Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, at the handover ceremony. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
