Serena Williams Revealed as Buyer—and Demolisher—of $8 Million Florida Estate

Though it seemed as if Serena Williams may have been ending her decades-long residence in Florida with the recent $2.8 million sale of her Palm Beach Gardens home, in fact, the tennis pro has not yet cut ties with the Sunshine State. According to The Real Deal, Williams has been identified as the previously unknown buyer of a waterfront estate in Jupiter that sold for $8 million in September 2020.

Williams purchased the property from St. Louis Cardinals baseball player Yadier Molina through an LLC registered in her name. That business entity also reportedly owns another nearby mansion in the upscale community of Pennock Point that is currently under construction.

Molina’s former mansion spans 10,433 square feet, with eight bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms, all sitting on more than four acres of land. The property includes a swimming pool, guesthouse, combined tennis and basketball court, and baseball diamond, plus almost 300 feet of riverfront. Despite this impressive spread, however, Williams’s LLC reportedly filed a notice in October outlining plans to begin demolishing the house.

Williams has plenty of experience overseeing new builds—often with the help of her sister Venus and the latter’s V Starr design firm. She and Venus purchased a one-acre property in Palm Beach Gardens in 1998 and spent two years custom-building a home in which they lived together for many years. That 8,500-square-foot house featured six bedrooms, including a main suite for each tennis pro, as well as multiple lounge areas, a home theater, an eat-in kitchen, and a resort-style backyard complete with pool, spa, gazebo, and private lake. The sisters sold off the property in early 2019 for $2.3 million.
