According to the Sun on Sunday Bellfield, who murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler, along with Marsha McDonnell 19, and Amelie Delagrange, 22, was found injured in his cell at the notorious HMP Frankland.

Sources have said the 51-year-old former bouncer was found badly hurt in his cell but medics were quickly called to tend to him.

A source said: “He was minutes from death — if the prison officers hadn’t been on hand so swiftly, he would have died.”
