The series: Transferring Wabash River aquifer water to Lebanon for its business park
LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The water in an aquifer below the Wabash River in southwestern Tippecanoe County is targeted to provide between 10 million and 100 million gallons of a day to a proposed Lebanon business park.
The plan is to tap into the aquifer and build a 40-mile pipeline to Lebanon. Indiana is 140 miles wide, so the pipeline will traverse about one-quarter of the state.
The Journal & Courier recently reported on this in a three-part series about the proposed LEAP plan, the Wabash River aquifer and Indiana's current laws about water use.
