Updated: Name of woman who died after ‘serious collision’ in Lexington is released

One person in Lexington died Friday morning as a result of a serious crash, according to Lexington police.

The crash happened right around 7 a.m. in the 4000 block of Briar Hill Road, said Lt. Joe Anderson with the Lexington Police Department. The collision was a vehicle versus a tree, according to Anderson.

Jessica Anne Yazell, 39, of Georgetown, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:52 a.m. as a result of blunt trauma injuries, the Fayette County coroner’s office said.

The police department’s collision reconstruction unit also was called to the scene, Anderson said.

Police shut down the road between Bryan Station Road and North Cleveland Road while they investigated, according to the Lexington Traffic Management Center. The road reopened at approximately 9:50 a.m.
