Female bicyclist taken to hospital after being struck by vehicle, Boise police say
A woman was taken to the hospital with “life-threatening injuries” after she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bike, the Boise Police Department said.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Eagle and McMillan roads in West Boise and caused police to shut down the intersection in all directions, according to a news release from the department. The intersection is expected to be closed for several hours.
The bicyclist was traveling eastbound on McMillan Road when the driver, who was traveling northbound on Eagle Road, hit her, according to the release. No other injures were reported and police are investigating.
Police said that traffic in the area is experiencing “major delays” and asked the public to avoid the area while officers clear the scene and investigate the crash.
Lowell Scott Middle School is located off the intersection, and the school day ends at 3:05 p.m. West Ada School District spokesperson Niki Scheppers said the collision didn’t cause any delays for students or affect the school’s bus routes.
