Serious head-on crash happens in Dunn County

Nov. 23—MENOMONIE — Three people were seriously injured in a head-on crash Monday afternoon in Dunn County.

The crash occurred at 1:27 p.m. on 980th Ave., west of 370th St., in Hay River township, according to a press release from the Dunn County Sheriff's Office. The eye witness told the dispatcher that one of the vehicles was on fire, with two occupants trapped inside it.

The Dunn County Sheriff's Office, Boyceville Police Department, Boyceville Fire and EMS, Menomonie EMS, Wisconsin State Patrol and two life-link helicopters responded to the scene. They were able to free the two occupants from the burning vehicle.

The preliminary investigation indicates a Dodge Neon with two occupants was eastbound on 980th Ave and a Chevrolet Silverado with one occupant was westbound. The two vehicles hit head-on at the crest of a hill.

The two occupants of the Dodge Neon sustained serious injuries and were airlifted from the scene by Life-link helicopters. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff's Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.

The names of the occupants are being withheld pending family notification.
