South MS I-10 drivers experienced major delays after a crash that caused serious injuries

Two vehicles collided Friday morning in Harrison County, causing serious injuries and major delays in both directions on Interstate 10 near the Menge Avenue exit.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said Friday morning that first responders were at Exit 24 for a “crash that involves serious injuries.”

The crash occurred about 8:15 a.m. and caused delays in the westbound lanes of I-10, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said.

All delays had cleared by 11:30 a.m.

Authorities closed part of the westbound interstate Friday morning for emergency vehicles but the left westbound lane remained open, the MHP said.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation sent several warnings of “major delays” Friday morning, and also reported eastbound back-ups all the way to Long Beach near County Farm Road.
