Servpro fundraiser raises $13K for Project Goodwill

Oct. 19—THOMASVILLE — Every year Servpro Fire and Water Cleanup and Restoration hosts its annual Golf and Give fundraiser to help raise money for one local organization.

This year, with the help from lead sponsor Thomasville National Bank, over $13,000 was raised for the Law Enforcement Project Goodwill.

The money will go toward helping children and families in need during the Christmas season.

Lindsay Leverette, co-owner of Servpro, said last year about $10,000 was raised for another organization, which is why this year she wanted to go bigger in fundraising efforts.

"It feels really good," she said, referring to exceeding her fundraising goal. "We try to help a different organization every year, so this one was definitely a good one."

The 21st Law Enforcement Goodwill Project will be November 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the Jail-Justice Center, located at 921 Smith Ave., and will feature the $7 barbecue chicken plates that will help raise more money for the initiative.

The Thomasville Police Department will also partner with different organizations, including The Treehouse Children's Advocacy Center and schools throughout Thomas County to impact more families in need.

Capt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff's Office chief investigator, said the annual project is important especially for children who enjoy Christmas.

"It's a benefit to everybody in the community because we assist needy families at Christmas time because Christmas morning is for kids," he said.

Watkins added the money donated from Servpro is greatly appreciated and shows the community's support.

"This is going to go a long way to take care of a lot of kids and needy families at Christmas," he said.

Thomasville Police Chief John Letteney said he's proud to see this time of giving promote unity in the community.

"It's great to see us come together in this way where they pull their time and their talent and their resources together to help others," he said.
