Info session set for proposed sidewalk project along 316

Nov. 11—A public information session will be conducted in Hebron on a proposal for a sidewalk project along Route 316.

The route, locally known as Wall Street, intersects with Route 66/ Main Street. RHAM Junior/ Senior High School and Veterans Memorial Park, with multiple athletic fields and facilities, are both located on Wall Street less than half a mile from the Main Street junction.

Sidewalks already extend from Main Street to RHAM High School. The new project under discussion would extend the sidewalks from RHAM High School up Wall Street to the intersection with Ridge Road, opposite of the New Hebron Cemetery.

" We're finally going to move forward with the project," said Hebron Town Manager Andrew Tierney.

The project would be funded through the state's Small Town Economic Assistance Program, with a grant already secured for the work up to $ 380,000.00. The plans have been reviewed and approved by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Luchs Consulting Engineers, a Meridenbased firm which drafted the plans for the project, will give a presentation on the sidewalk extension, and all interested members of the community are invited to attend.

Tierney hopes that the project would be sent out to bid for the construction phase soon.

The informational meeting will be held November 10 at 6: 30 p. m. in the Douglas Library, located at 22 Main Street.
