Ann MacGregor named NH Catholic Schools Teacher of the Year

MANCHESTER - The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, Bishop of Manchester, and David Thibault, Superintendent of Schools, have announced that Ann MacGregor, longtime educator at Saint Elizabeth Seton School in Rochester, is the 2022 recipient of the Saint John Baptist de la Salle Catholic School Teacher of the Year Award.

Also announced were the recipients of the Saint Joseph the Worker Community Partner of the Year Award, Sister Jeannette Landreville, CSC, and the Saint John Vianney Cleric of the Year Award, Very Reverend Alan Tremblay, for his support of St. Joseph Regional School and Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Keene.

Thibault said of all those honored, “Our vision, in union with Bishop Libasci, is to make Catholic education affordable, accessible, and available to all families throughout our state. But our Catholic schools simply would not exist without the commitment of our educators, administrators, clergy, and lay partners in the community. Their selfless support is what allows our students to succeed, and we are proud to honor them with these awards.”

MacGregor, who retired this year after 26 years in Catholic education, was one of three finalists for the Teacher of the Year Award. The others were Matthew Arnold of Trinity High School in Manchester, and Marygrace Bartoldus of St. John Regional School in Concord.

The awards, now in their sixth year, celebrate the selfless acts of individuals who advance the mission of Catholic education in New Hampshire. Award recipients were honored at the Recognizing Excellence Gala, held at the Doubletree in Manchester on June 16, 2022.

Stratham Historical Society awards 2022 scholarships

STRATHAM - The Stratham Historical Society has announced the nine recipients of the Winfield L. Foote Award for Academic Excellence for 2022. This year’s recipients include eight graduating SAU 16 high school seniors, and one rising upper classman. They are as follows:

Jamie O’Keefe, attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology;

E. J. Murphy, III, attending College of the Holy Cross;

Catherine Benjamin, attending the University of Vermont;

Caitlin Murphy, attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute;

Karina Nicholas, attending Hope College

Clara Gorman, attending Keene State College;

Shay Gillis, attending University of New Hampshire;

Hannah Hall, attending Bennington College.

Each of the above high school graduates will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Maggie Joyce, Rising College Junior/Senior Awardee, is attending The University of New Hampshire. Maggie will receive a $1,500 scholarship.

The Stratham Historical Society congratulates all the recipients and is particularly gratified to support their academic achievements in 2022 and wish them the very best in their next chapter.

The scholarships are made possible by the generosity of the late Mr. Winfield L. Foote, a longtime resident of Stratham and a strong supporter of The Stratham Historical Society. With this year’s awards, the Society will have distributed nearly $120,000 to local students.

The society thanks its Stratham Historical Society Scholarship Committee, chaired by Gary Abreu. This Committee has worked safely through the pandemic to assure we have not lost a year of attention to one of Stratham Historical Society’s most gratifying activities.

Each year, two or more $1,000 awards are offered to qualified applicants who meet the criteria set forth by the society. Watch for announcements and check with guidance departments to obtain applications. These are available in February of each year for public and private high school seniors who are Stratham residents, and for students from surrounding communities who are enrolled in the SAU16 School District.
