Seven Berks wrestlers win championships at Gov. Mifflin girls tournament
Dec. 31—Seven Berks County wrestlers won championships and 15 finished second at last week's Gov. Mifflin Girls Wrestling Tournament.
The event at Gov. Mifflin Intermediate had more than 270 wrestlers from 26 teams registered; it was the largest girls tournament in the state to date.
Winning titles were Gov. Mifflin's Jayleah Pletz, Madelyn Spayd and Genesis Duran Coronado; Exeter's Maddy McCraw and Haley Piersol; Hamburg's Shannon Govern; and Wyomissing's Renie Harris.
Second-place finishers from Gov. Mifflin were Johanna Remp, Taryn Singler, Emily Yerger, Abbie Kohl, Franseca Lisa and Ciandra Diaz. Finishing second from Exeter were Jaylianna Rosa, Taylor Shadel, Leiani Martinez, Molly Lubenow, Madalyn Krause, Liberty Furman and Fallyne Oswalt. Coming in second from Hamburg were Isabelle Wilkes and Emma Schaeffer.
